Birgitte Rasine

The founder and principal driving force behind LUCITÀ, Birgitte Rasine is a writer, producer, poet, journalist and a tireless thinker and innovator. Deeply committed to positive change in the media & communications sectors, Birgitte has given talks, interviews and presentations internationally about socially responsible media, the impact of communications on society and the individual, and related topics.  She is the author of "The Colors of Perception," LUCITÀ's inhouse report on socially responsible media & communications, and a contributor to Green Options' Sustain-a-blog. 

In line with her diverse media career that spans film production, journalism, publishing, marketing and public relations, Birgitte has worked with civil society, business, government and the scientific community.  As a journalist, she wrote for Business Week, The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety, the entertainment media industry’s two leading publications, and Diálogo Mediterráneo, a tri-lingual journal on policy, economy and the environment in the Mediterranean region.  In 1997, three of her plays for children were staged in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She's currently compiling a collection of short stories in her (clearly copious) spare time.

In her previous career, Birgitte worked in visual effects, camera and lighting on Hollywood and independent feature films for companies such as PDI/Dreamworks, ILM, Universal Studios, HBO, and Disney, and credits them for giving her time in the trenches.

A prolific photographer and award-winning poet, Birgitte speaks 5 languages and has lived in 6 countries.  She holds a BA in Aesthetics of Film from Stanford University, studied professional cinematography at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, California, and completed a professional masters degree in international relations at the Instituto Universitario Ortega y Gasset in Madrid, Spain.  She sits on the board of directors of a Czech and Slovak non profit organization in New York City dedicated to supporting the leaders of tomorrow, is a member of MENG, volunteers her time as communications counsel to CommonPassion.org, and is also a Founding Circle member of the Association of Women in Power.
