Robert Sitler

Robert Sitler is a Professor of Modern Languages and Director of Latin American Studies at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. He is also author of the recent book "The Living Maya: Ancient Wisdom in the Era of 2012" as well as the translator of Mayan author Gaspar Gonzalez's "13 B'aktun: Mayan Visions of 2012 and Beyond."

Dr. Sitler coined the term "2012 Phenomenon" in his 2006 Nova Religio journal article entitled "The 2012 Phenomenon: New Age Appropriation of an Ancient Mayan Calendar." He has traveled extensively in the Mayan area for over 35 years among speakers of over a dozen Mayan languages. You can read more about his work at www.robertsitler.com.
