Provide a brief description of the film/program's story plot for our readers
What is your personal opinion of this film/program, as entertainment?
What is your personal opinion of this film/program as a social and/or cultural message? Does it succeed or fail in this regard?
It has a bad message. Doom and gloom, and fear and everybody should be afraid. Nobody knows what is going to happen. But if anything it can only be positive after thousands of years of being veiled and kept in the dark, finally we will see some light coming into humanity as the veil is lifted.
What impact do you feel the movie will likely have on the way people worldwide will perceive the Mayan Calendar?
Bad. This is bad. It makes people think the mayan calender I about doom and gloom. Stupid.
If you had the chance to remake this film/program, what would you do differently?
Everything. Get Dr. Carl Calleman as an advisor. Not just listen to his advice but actually follow it. Only the title 2012 would be the same, I suspect, all of the doom is out the window immediately.
Would you recommend this film/program to your family, friends and colleagues? Why or why not?
NO, it is bad. Scaremongering.
What would you like to say to the film's director, and/or the production studio?
Entertainment is not innocent, you have made money on fear.
("2012" only) Roland Emmerich is allegedly planning a television series "post 2012". What do you think of this idea?
Bad, if it goes a little in direction of X-files, which had a very, very high truth content, then maybe there is hope. But with entertainment... it is all about money, oh and of course sponsors and big-money people... they are boss.
