Provide a brief description of the film/program's story plot for our readers

solar flares cause the Earth's core to overheat. Worldwide devastation ensues. A few unlikely heroes narrowly avoid one close call after another to survive.

What is your personal opinion of this film/program, as entertainment?

Reminded me of a Universal Studios amusement ride. The story, plot, acting, and even the special effects- were all second rate capitalist sensationalism based on shock value and hence cheap thrills.

What is your personal opinion of this film/program as a social and/or cultural message? Does it succeed or fail in this regard?

It seemed to have a generic humanitarian moral associated with life being worth more than money. Real people do not easily survive such daredevil stunts, however.

What impact do you feel the movie will likely have on the way people worldwide will perceive the Mayan Calendar?

I think it had nothing to do with the Mayan calender, and reflects the greed and ignorance of the lowest common denominator in that equation.

If you had the chance to remake this film/program, what would you do differently?

1. More back story to do with the Mayans. 2. More leisurely plot pacing would make the story more believable.

Would you recommend this film/program to your family, friends and colleagues? Why or why not?

no. see above.

What would you like to say to the film's director, and/or the production studio?

Too much hype. More bark than bite. The over-the-top thrills, chills, spills- were boring about the first 15 minutes.

("2012" only) Roland Emmerich is allegedly planning a television series "post 2012". What do you think of this idea?

Hopefully it will be based on fact and not overt sensationalism. Make it EDUTAINMENT

Any other comments you'd like to add

I want my money back.
