Provide a brief description of the film/program's story plot for our readers

The film really is another armegeddon film with a loosely based plot and its whole attraction is the great
special effects generated for the natural disaster scenes. I really knew how the film would turn out when I watched the trailors and when I sat down to watch I just got a little disgusted and went to do something else.

What is your personal opinion of this film/program, as entertainment?

As entertainment I think it probably would appeal to the age group of twelve and under. Hopefully they would
not take it to much to heart for what good does it do a child to think the world will come to an end in a couple of years. I think Hollywood missed out on another opportunity to be helpful to the masses. We know that this
prophecy exist. Why not do a documentary interviewing Mayan elders. Talk to prominent astrologers about the alignment of the stars. Talk to geologists and meteorologists who may have some inside information.

What is your personal opinion of this film/program as a social and/or cultural message? Does it succeed or fail in this regard?

IT IS A TOTAL FAILURE AND I could not watch the whole movie because I was totally disgusted. As I said before it was a missed opportunity to educate us rather than play on our fears with sensation and special effects. Someone needs to do something meaningful with in depth research. I am tired of Hollywood's trickery.
There have been very successful meaningful movies like Fahrenheit 9/11, Al Gore's film, Malcom X, Ray Charles, Dances with Wolves, Precious. This movie was just another B -rated blockbuster or should I say brainbuster.

What impact do you feel the movie will likely have on the way people worldwide will perceive the Mayan Calendar?

Well I hope they see the movie for what it is. I think they understand thow foolish Hollywood is and how
they degrade other cultures, their values, their religion,(ex. Stargate) etc. They are people without souls and only focused on greed. The films that have true value cannot get funding by big producers in Hollywood. Luckily, there are a few actors who although they still short are trying to go that route. Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson. Steve Spielberg stand apart. I think people want to see something of real substance worldwide.

If you had the chance to remake this film/program, what would you do differently?

I would go to Central America and talk to the Mayan elders and anthropologists. I would talk to other cultures
around the world to see if they have a similiar prophecy. The East Indian, American Indian, Chinese, Egyptian
civilization was similiar to theirs with the building of the pyramids.I would interview astrologers, meteorologists
and other scientists to see what their thoughts are on the matter.

Would you recommend this film/program to your family, friends and colleagues? Why or why not?

No not at all. It has no real value.

What would you like to say to the film's director, and/or the production studio?

Same as I told you above.

("2012" only) Roland Emmerich is allegedly planning a television series "post 2012". What do you think of this idea?

Trash
