Provide a brief description of the film/program's story plot for our readers
last few years leading up to 12/21/12-apocolyptic techno-drama with protagonists' fighting to stay alive while the rest of the world is destroyed due to earth crust shifts caused by solar activity
What is your personal opinion of this film/program, as entertainment?
We thought the dialogue was strained and idiotic. There was no room for real acting -only techno stunts that were repetitive and boring in their shock appeal
What is your personal opinion of this film/program as a social and/or cultural message? Does it succeed or fail in this regard?
This film is horrendous- it is inaccurate regarding the true message of the Maya- had the producers/director consulted any of the real Mayan scholars or Mayan date keepers such as Don Alejandro Oxlaj, they would have known that the end of the cycle does not at all mean the end of the world- rather a change in consciousness-
What impact do you feel the movie will likely have on the way people worldwide will perceive the Mayan Calendar?
If it has any impact at all it will be a negative one- how could it not, as fatalistic and horrendous the images and story line-
If you had the chance to remake this film/program, what would you do differently?
Would you recommend this film/program to your family, friends and colleagues? Why or why not?
no, not at all- why should they be exposed to such nihilistic drivel?
What would you like to say to the film's director, and/or the production studio?
I would say how sorry I am that he is so ill informed, and that he squandered an opportunity to do something meaningful with his craft
("2012" only) Roland Emmerich is allegedly planning a television series "post 2012". What do you think of this idea?
based on the film I would say it is a horrible idea - he approaches the whole topic materialistically-
