The Mayan Calendar Portal launches its official mobile app “MCP Mayan Tzolkin”

Mobile app is the first to offer the full set of 260 “Energies of the Day”

Sunnyvale, CA—June 15, 2011—LUCITA Inc, the owner and operator of the popular Mayan Calendar Portal, the world’s leading portal site for the Mayan Calendar, formally announced the launch of the MCP’s official mobile app, “MCP Mayan Tzolkin.”

MCP Mayan Tzolkin is the first mobile app to bring to audiences the full set of the Tzolk’in’s 260 “Energies of the Day,” interpreted according to the practices of the Maya of Central America.  To the company’s knowledge, there are no compilations of the 260 Tzolk’in days that present a properly interpreted series of daily energies—integrating the meaning of each daysign with the meaning of the number that accompanies it.  This is critical, for the numbers influence the daysigns, and change the energy and power of each specific day—for example, 2 Lamat is not the same as 11 Lamat.  While other mobile apps post the Tzolkin date and a brief description of the energy of the day, their descriptions remain the same for each daysign regardless of the number that accompanies it.

Featuring the well-known MCP calendar wheel (an original rendition of the Tzolk’in), the app presents a simple, highly intuitive interface with a single focus: to enable users to familiarize themselves with how the Tzolk’in works and easily integrate its cycles into their daily lives.  The app has already garnered several 5-star reviews on iTunes.

MCP Mayan Tzolk’in features:

  • Complete set of the 260 “Energies of the Day,” each one meticulously interpreted for the context of modern-day life, taking into account not only the meaning of the daysign but also each accompanying number and the general context of the current Trecena
  • Sophisticated, beautifully rendered glyph, number and deity graphics
  • The well-known Mayan Calendar Portal Tzolk’in calendar rings, in full dynamic, interactive mode
  • Explanation of the nature, meaning and purpose of the sacred Tzolk’in, including listings of the Tzolk’in’s 20 daysigns and 13 numbers in both Yucatec and K’iche’ Maya
  • A calculator to convert Gregorian (Western) dates into Tzolk’in dates
  • Full descriptions of the 20 sacred Tzolk’in daysigns and 13 numbers, based on the traditions of the Maya of Guatemala
  • Full descriptions of the 13 deities associated with the thirteen numbers

MCP Mayan Tzolk’in can be downloaded via iTunes or by accessing http://itunes.apple.com/app/mcp-mayan-tzolkin/id439809500

The app is compatible with iPhone 3G and 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad and iPad 2, and will soon be released in the Android marketplace.
