One way to test Mayan astrology -- or any astrological system -- to verify that it really works is by examining the charts of extreme individuals, such as John Lennon or Bonnie and Clyde. Do their actions make sense in light of their Mayan day sign?

When the story broke about Snowden's revelations about the NSA, I speculated that his Mayan nahual was Snake, because this nahual's key traits are truth and justice. Direct and sudden action is a personality trait of Snake. Both fit his recent leaks of NSA files and his flight to Hong Kong.

One reason I concluded in September that Obama would win the 2012 Presidential election was because I realized months before he would be going through his Path of the Plumed Serpent in the weeks before and after the election on November 6. Even people who do not observe the related ceremonies typically get an energy boost during this time. Composite charts supported my conclusion.

In The Mayan Prophecies: The Renewal of the World 2012-2072, the authentic Mayan prophecies¾those of the 260-year Katun Wheel from the Books of Chilam Balam¾are explained and interpreted by Kenneth Johnson, author of Jaguar Wisdom.

These “knowledge books” were recorded in hieroglyphs on fig bark and wrapped in jaguar pelts. Friars translated them into Spanish in the 15th Century in Yucatan, Mexico. The earliest known example of the calendar board, still used in Mayan astrology today, was discovered inside the cover of one of these books.

David Stuart’s neo-conservative, dismissive approach to December 21, 2012’s significance for the ancient Maya stifles debate on the topic. It also leads to sloppy journalism: when all a reporter has to do is quote Stuart’s latest dismissal of other interpretations of the message in a set of glyphs, the reporter does not have to do further research -- and the story suffers from lack of objectivity.

Stuart needs to climb out of the ruins, get some fresh air and start thinking for himself, rather than continue to allow the institutions that finance his fieldwork to manipulate him.

Someone once told me it not necessary to study the nahuales or their meanings, because you can just stare at the glyphs and "download" the messages encoded there. Silly, of course.

But it is possible to find hidden meanings of the nahuales by examining the symbols and then looking through the Popul Vuh for passages containing the same symbols.

May 28, 2012, La Antigua, Guatemala: A speaker at the Fifth Mayan Archaeology Convention in Antigua, Guatemala, this June, Dutch anthropologist and ethnologist Ruud van Akkeran revealed evidence today that the Popul Vuh was written by the Chol Maya of the Verapaz region of Guatemala, not by the Ki'che' of the highlands. With a smile, he told Guatemalan newspaper Prensa Libre that he believed he might be lynched for espousing such a theory.

Every Spring Equinox, Feathered Serpent returns in spirit, and his shadow can be seen descending the Pyramid of Kukulkan (as he is known in Guatemala) and slithering off in the direction of the ceremonial cenote at Chichen Itza. On the Fall Equinox, his shadow moves up the pyramid as he returns to the heavens.

This is not a prediction, just observations on which Republican would have the most positive influence on Romney's run for the Presidency. These are based on Mayan astrological composite charts of Romney and three possible choices.

Romney and Rubio: 7 Chuen/B'atz (Monkey)
Romney and Christie: 6 Chichan/Kan (Snake)
Romney and Portman: 10 Ik/Ik (Wind)

Rubio and Romney add up to 7 Monkey. This makes them an entertaining sign that loves attention and finds it easy to get people to follow them.

One thing I learned early on as a practicing Mayan astrology is that when two people are in a relationship, be it adversarial or friendly, the nahual, not the number, is the key factor is determining which is stronger.

This is one reason Romney, a 2 Jaguar, was able to beat Santorum, whose coefficient of 7 is higher, but whose nahual (Earth) is far less powerful than Jaguar. (None of the other candidates have such an intense nahual.) A battle between a 2 Jaguar and 7 Snake would have been different story altogether, a much fiercer and deadlier battle.

March 10, 2012 - 12:36pm

I missed on my Super Tuesday prediction. Romney got many more delegates than Santorum or the others.

However, of the nine states in which all four candidates were on the ballot, they finished in the precise order I predicted. And this is the first time I have been wrong out of four correct predictions.

Even so, I was wrong about Super Tuesday. Why? How? One mistake may have been to combine all ten states into one prediction, but instead considered each individually. Maybe.
