Ix Chel was the Mayan goddess of birthing and healing, of midwifery and medicine.  Often associated with the moon and its phases, which in many cultures represents the phases of fertility, Ix Chel was also known as "the goddess of making children" and fertility both in human families and crops.  She corresponds to Goddess O in the Dresden Codex.
